We are a full service, one stop TEENAGE DRIVERS TRAINING SCHOOL. We offer value driven BEHIND THE WHEEL TRAINING and DRIVERS EDUCATION PROGRAMS. Like most parents, you probably have mixed feelings every time you think about your teen getting their drivers license. You probably are relieved to be off the hook for the constant carpooling you've been doing for years. You are also aware of the dangers for teens who are behind the wheel. Car crashes are the number one cause of death for U.S. teenage drivers with about 6,000 young drivers dying each year. You want the best drivers training program available with the best value for your dollar. To this date, we are not aware of any of our graduates being in an injury related accident.
Your teenager will graduate from Alliance Defensive Driving School with the knowledge on how to drive safely on our great American highways. We emphasize the word defensive when teaching through interactive, intelligent, and intuitive techniques. We believe in the theory that each student learns individually and we use several different cognitive methods such as, S.I.P.D.E, S.M.I.T.H. © , and running commentaries to achieve these goals. We also believe in T.E.A.M. work (Together Everyone Accomplishes More). This is why we encourage parents to be involved in the lessons.
DRIVERS EDUCATION AND BEHIND THE WHEEL TRAINING
Alliance Defensive Driving School understands your confusion when trying to navigate through information needed for your teenagers learning permit. California State policy allows a teenager to start driver's education at the age of 15 years old.
We offer both in-classroom and online DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAMS. Both of these programs fulfill the 30 hours of state requirements. Deciding what to do depends on your needs. Some driving schools will tell you that taking the classroom program is better than going online. There is no solid evidence to support this opinion. In fact, students have different learning styles, different time constraints, and different economic circumstances. You should take the course that best meets your needs, giving consideration to these factors. To learn more about our drivers education programs please let us know with a phone call or e-mail.
When your teenager enrolls in a driving schools driver's education program between the ages of 15 years and 17 ½ years of age, they will need to complete the 30 hour program and receive a DMV completion certificate called the DL 400c and 400d. You can obtain both of these certificates from a licensed DRIVING SCHOOL together or separately depending on your needs. Once you have these certificates and are 15 ½ years old, make an appointment with a DMV office for your teenager to take the DMV written test, or do a walk-in without an appointment. A walk-in test can take between 90 minutes to 120 minutes and a scheduled appointment about 30 minutes. Before leaving for the DMV appointment, make sure that you take these six items with you,
The DMV will require all applicants to take three tests before they can get their provisional license. The first test is a 46 question, multiple choice quizz to find out whether the applicant is knowledgeable about driving laws. Out of these 46 questions only 8 questions can be missed. The second test is an eye exam designed to find out if the applicants' vision both in daylight and darkness is adequate to drive a vehicle. If the applicant wears contact lenses or glasses, be sure to bring them to the vision test. On passing these two tests, the applicant will be issued a learners permit and they can drive with a licensed driver over the age of 25 years as long as they are enrolled and taking driving lessons from a licensed driving school. This information can be found in the California Vehicle Code section 12509(d). When the new student finishes their first professional lesson with a licensed driving instructor, their permit will be signed with the instructor's signature. Please be sure to read the parent/teen handbook and sign below the driving instructor's signature after your teen as completed 50 hours of practice including 10 hours of night driving. The third test is taken after the student has completed 6 months of practice, 6 hours of behind the wheel training with a professional instructor, and 50 hours of practice with a licensed driver over the age of 25. This third test is the behind the wheel examine taken at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The owner of Alliance Defensive Driving School has been in the teaching industry for over 27 years and has taught at large driving schools and small, family owned driving schools. Because of our vast experience and knowledge of the industry, we have developed a 6 hour program involving intelligent, interactive, and intuitive methods of teaching. Each student gets a folder with important handouts that they can read and ask questions of the instructor. We encourage our students to think critically and problem solve. Driving a car is like controlling a guided missile. Statistics have shown clearly that when parents are involved in their childrens' lessons, the accident ratio is reduced by over 30%. Wow! This is why we encourage parents to be involved in the lesson plan.
We pick up and drop off at your location. Lessons are typically two hours long, and we usually like to complete the first lesson as soon as the student gets their permit. The second lesson is more flexible depending on the student's skill level and ability to practice. We encourage parents to spend as much time in the car as possible between lessons to insure proper skill development.
It is critical that the third lesson is scheduled and taken right before the DMV road test. We recommend parents schedule the road test thirty days out from the desired test date and then call us to schedule the third lesson. We like to teach this lesson approximately one week prior to the test. We agree that this is the optimal way to create the best performance on the actual test.
We are dedicated to excellence and hope that the information that we have presented here helps you in deciding on a driving school. If we can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to call or write with questions you still might have.
